White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour

presented in association with Aurora Nova.

Will you participate? Will you be manipulated? Will you listen? Will you really listen?

With no rehearsals, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, internationally acclaimed White Rabbit Red Rabbit, by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is an audacious theatrical experiment and a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre.

Forbidden to leave his native Iran, Soleimanpour wrote a play which travelled the world in his place. The audience joins each different performer on a journey into the unknown; stumbling upon the personal and profound, the limits of liberty and ultimately where theatre can take you. Since its joint premiere in 2011, the play has been translated into 20 different languages and has been performed over 1000 times by some of the biggest names in theatre and film, including actors Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, John Hurt, Simon McBurney, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke and Ken Loach.

Our performences are either at Spektakel Wien or at Theater Spielraum - and either in English or in German, so make sure you check the venue and language before you go :-)

Open House Theatre Company

As a successor-organisation of the now-closed International Theatre Vienna, Open House Theatre Company was founded by professionals working within the performance industry as Vienna's new English-speaking theatre company. The diversity of our team will be reflected in the wide artistic spectrum of our productions. Our central credo, however, remains the same for every member of the company:

To bring culture, entertainment, and education to the people and children of Vienna

At Open House Theatre Company our aim is to bring a high level of professionalism, quality, and standards to each and every theatrical endeavour we subscribe to; to offer workshops and educational programmes to children and young people, as well as specific shows for youngsters and families. And finally, to offer opportunities for persons starting out in the industry.

With our tagline "STORIES WORTH TELLING", it is our desire to instil once again, a love for the theatre. To get every single member of our audience engaged in a story that is being told right in front of them, and for them! We believe that good theatre is appreciated by audiences of all ages, and we want to ignite a love of the stage, the written, and the spoken word in the next generation of theatre goers. This is why we at Open House Theatre Company want to produce great theatre. Because no matter who your target audience is, if done right, nobody gets left behind!

Mission Statement

Ob in Theater, Art.Space, Cafe.
