Danae Theodoridou is a performance maker, performer and researcher based in Brussels. She studied Greek philology and linguistics in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and acting in the National Theatre of Northern Greece. She completed her practice-led PhD on dramaturgy of experimental theatre and dance in Roehampton University (London). Since 2008 she creates her own solo and collaborative live works and artistic research projects all over Europe. Her artistic creation explores theatrical mechanisms of representation, fragmented poetics, performativity of language and playfulness in order to offer twisted views on realities and fictions. Since 2013 this work focuses particularly on the notion of ’social imaginaries’ and the way performance can contribute to the production of social and political alternatives. Danae’s work has been supported by organisations and institutions such as the AHRC, the Greek General Secretariat for Youth, the European Union, the Flemish Community, PACT Zollverein, BUDA, BIOS, Cacoyannis Foundation, Athens & Epidaurus Festival a.o.

At the same time, Danae curates practice-led research projects, presents and publishes her research writings in international conferences and journals and teaches in various university departments and art conservatoires in Europe. She is a co-creator of the three-year project Dramaturgy at Work (https://dramaturgyatwork.wordpress.com) and a co-author of the subsequent publication ’The Practice of Dramaturgy: Working on Actions in Performance’ (Valiz, 2017).
