In her latest solo project Eisa Jocson performs a “One-Woman Entertainment-Service Machine”. The inspiration for Host are the female and transgender hostesses from the Philippines who portray a kind of femininity in Japanese night clubs that is supposed to recall the geisha tradition. We find Jocson in just this role: she becomes our “host” and receives the audience as her guests. The performance invites people to analyse the presentations of female bodies by staging (survival) strategies such as mimesis and hybridity in the entertainment sector.
